Balanced Kids: A Direct Primary Care (DPC) Model

The Next Evolution of Pediatric Care

Modern families are busy. Schedules are full, kids get sick at inconvenient times, and navigating the healthcare system often adds stress instead of relief. At Balanced Kids, we believe pediatric care should fit into your life—not require your family to rearrange everything around a clinic visit.

Balanced Kids is built on a Direct Primary Care (DPC) model. This approach removes many of the barriers found in traditional healthcare and replaces them with care that is personal, accessible, and relationship-driven. Our goal is simple: provide high-quality pediatric care that meets families where they are—both literally and figuratively.

Where Traditional Pediatric Care Falls Short

In today’s healthcare system, families are often expected to adapt to rigid structures that were never designed with real life in mind. Parents are frequently asked to wait days or weeks for sick appointments, rush to urgent care or emergency rooms after hours, navigate confusing portals and phone trees, receive generalized advice from providers who don’t know their child, and fit complex concerns into short, rushed visits.

The result is frustration, delayed care, and missed opportunities for meaningful education and prevention. Children deserve care that accounts for who they are, how they live, and what their families truly need.

What DPC Looks Like at Balanced Kids

Balanced Kids operates outside the traditional insurance-driven model. Instead of billing insurance, we offer transparent pricing and membership-based care, which allows us to focus on what matters most—your child. This model gives us the flexibility to adapt care in ways traditional clinics simply cannot with three pathways to care: A La Carte, Sick Kids Membership, and Balanced Kids Membership.

With our Direct Primary Care model, full benefits are experienced through our membership options. Membership allows for ongoing, relationship-based care, where Sarah is able to provide the time and continuity to truly get to know your child and your family.

À la carte visits are available when scheduling allows and can be a great option for families who need occasional, convenient care at home. These visits are designed as one-time appointments and may be all that some families need. However, because there is no established relationship or prior history, à la carte care does not offer the same level of continuity, access, or proactive support that comes with a Direct Primary Care membership.

With membership, we build a foundation before your child is sick, before the next well-child visit is due, and before unexpected situations arise. We have already reviewed your child’s medical history, discussed their individual needs, and spent time getting to know your family. This allows me, Sarah, to provide care that is faster, more informed, and more effective—without starting from scratch each time.

Membership also includes direct communication, flexible access to care, and the reassurance of having a provider who is truly part of your child’s healthcare team. Instead of reacting to concerns as they arise, we work together proactively to support your child’s health and development over time.

Direct Primary Care is intentionally centered around membership. This structure allows me to care for fewer families, be more available, and deliver thoughtful, personalized care when and where it matters most—without rushed visits, long waits, or fragmented communication.

Care That Adapts to Your Family

Care That Adapts to Your Environment

Children are often more comfortable at home, and care is more effective when delivered in familiar spaces. Balanced Kids provides in-home visits whenever appropriate, whether that means care on the couch, in a bedroom, or meeting families where their day takes them.

Care That Adapts to Your Schedule

Illness does not follow office hours. Balanced Kids prioritizes same-day access, flexible scheduling, and timely communication so care happens when it is actually needed—not just when a clinic has availability.

Care That Adapts to Your Child

Every child is different. Some need more time, some need reassurance, and some need a deeper look at what is happening beneath the surface. Longer visits allow for education, questions, and thoughtful conversations rather than rushed decisions.

Care That Adapts to How Families Communicate

Not every concern requires an office visit. Balanced Kids integrates in-person care, virtual visits, and direct communication so families can receive guidance in the most appropriate and efficient way.

Care That Is Accessible and Transparent

Without insurance barriers, families know what to expect. Pricing is clear, visits are unhurried, and care decisions are made collaboratively—not dictated by billing codes.

What This Looks Like in Real Life

  1. A toddler wakes up with a fever overnight. Instead of waiting hours or heading to urgent care, parents can reach out and receive timely guidance. If needed, care happens at home, where the child feels safest.

  2. A child experiences frequent infections. Rather than treating each illness in isolation, we step back and look at the whole picture—sleep, nutrition, stress, environment, and family routines.

  3. A working parent struggles to fit appointments into a busy day. Visits are scheduled around real life, with options for flexible timing or virtual history-taking that respect work and family commitments.

Why Families Choose Balanced Kids

Families choose Balanced Kids because they want pediatric care that feels human again. They value personalized, relationship-based care, time for questions and education, convenience without sacrificing quality, a holistic approach that considers the whole child, and a provider who truly knows their family.

Is Balanced Kids Right for Your Family?

Balanced Kids is a great fit for families who want care that is thoughtful, accessible, and centered around connection. If you are looking for a pediatric provider who prioritizes time, trust, and real-life flexibility, Balanced Kids may be the right choice for you. Because your child’s healthcare should support your family—not complicate it.
